ulimit Command

ulimit - Is used for setting limits on file size . The ulimit command ( now a built in all shells ) imposes a restriction on the maximum size of a file that a user is permitted to create .Superuser can increase the size of it .

Example 1 - Basic Example

By default , ulimit displays the the current settings . Solaris and Linux shows unlimited as the default output , but it could be different on your system .


Example 2 Setting limit for filesize

Run below command to set maximum liit of file size .

   ulimit 20971510    --------------- Measured in 512-Byte Blocks
